The fountains are a nice oasis in the heat. More info and pictures online for the Fountains at Centennial Olympic Park.

OK so I am thinking about renaming my blog Atlanta Nightly Photo since this is when I seem to get out more often. Here are a few pics from the last few days.

Good times! We take our porch culture serious here! This weekend party was great with drum circle and all. I've heard that the contemporary American drum circle actually started in Atlanta in the late '50s. Babatunde Olatunji, a West African student attending Morehouse College, responded to racial segregation laws and covered his school expence by playing the drums of his homeland in Atlanta. Other students soon joined him and the first drum circle in was created.

Summer is definitely here, 98 degrees in Atlanta today. But hot and hazy days make for some beautiful sunsets. This photo was taken from the campus of the The King Center.

So here's my first Atlanta Daily Photo. It was hard to decide which photo would come first. This photo and this blog were inspired by Eric's Paris Daily Photo. I don't know the artist behind this little piece of Paris in Atlanta but it is outside of Paris On Ponce, a great place for antiques and oddities. Ponce de Leon Ave. in Atlanta is one of the best places to absorb some history and culture in Atlanta. All of the local "characters" described in Fred Willard's novel Down On Ponce are really here.
